Running Coach - Marathons

Are you struggling to reach the next level?

  Welcome message
  from Matt Wise,
  Running Coach

Many runners set lofty goals and are often knocked off course by various circumstances. At the same time, many people want to run marathons but don't know where to start. As a result, people become frustrated and lose a large investment of time (spent training) and money (spent on running clothes, race fees, etc). The discouragement that follows often results in runners taking several years and attempts to reach their goals or causes them to give up entirely.

Picture yourself reaching the goals you set. Imagine if you could foresee the many obstacles that keep runners from reaching their goals and avoid them. You're confident that you can set a goal and reach it. You carry that confidence into all areas of your life, and you're able to achieve more in your personal and professional lives. That's the role running can play in your life. Instead of feeling hesitant and unsure to be bold and set lofty goals, you are empowered to set a high standard for yourself, knowing that you can live up to it.

How can someone who's barely ever run before possibly finish a marathon? Why do some of us begin a training schedule then find ourselves unable to stick with it once we're in the middle of it? Why do injuries keep popping up for some runners just when they thought they were on their way to their goal? And, why do some runners keep trying one training program after another, but they still can't reach their targeted finishing time? The answer to these very different problems is the same. Most runners were never taught how to approach long-distance running! Most runners followed a standardized program they found online or got from a friend. How is it so widely accepted to take on a daunting task like long-distance running (with all its injury potential and all its cost in time and money) without proper guidance? These runners fall short of their goals because they don't have proven, personalized coaching from someone who knows how to help runners avoid injuries and provide accountability while keeping them motivated and on-track to reach their goals!

To successfully reach your running goals, there is a physical and psychological foundation that must first be established. Without it, runners fall off their training schedules and/or run into one of several obstacles, such as injury or a lack of motivation or accountability. With proper coaching, nearly all of these obstacles can be avoided. Running Wise helps you build your foundation, avoid obstacles, and successfully reach your goal.

"Before meeting Coach Matt, my best marathon time was 3:18. I wanted to qualify for the Boston Marathon (which was a 3:10 for me), but after two attempts and missing my time by eight minutes, I was wondering if I could do it. Coach Matt showed me how to train so I could guarantee myself that I would hit my time. Now, I’m planning my trip to Boston to run the Marathon!"
